At a recent conference in Hanoi, the Vice President of Vietnam Tourism Association (VTA), Mr.Binh, said that the huge amount of revenue from tourist is more than the loose of visa fee. Last year, Vietnam attracted about 1.5 million visitors from Japan, the Republic of Korea and Russia. 
If each visitor spent an average of US $1500 during their trip, the tourism sector would earn US $2.1 billion and contribute US $210 million for the&nbsp;national budget.&nbsp;So, losing several tens of millions of US dollar from visa exemption will bring billions of US dollar from increasing number of foreign visitor every year.

“We should not miss out on US$210 million in VAT only to get US$50 million from&nbsp;visa fees, not to mention the other benefits these markets can bring to the country like employment, for example. 
In addition, visitors from these markets offer high pay for services which suit the national tourism development strategy until 2020 and beyond,” he said.

The resolution revealed that the Government agreed to the visa exemption policy for the flight crew of foreign airlines operating in Vietnam on the basic principle of reciprocity.
According to the resolution, visa exemption will be permitted to crew members of foreign airlines in Vietnam on international flights to and from Vietnam which are conducted by those airlines; crew members of foreign airlines operating in Vietnam who come to Vietnam on commercial flights. Or other transportation means to perform flight duties on flights departing from Vietnam; And crew members of foreign airlines operating in Vietnam who come to Vietnam on those airlines’ flights as crew members. Then leave the country on commercial flights. Or other transportation means as passengers, regardless of their nationalities.
Crew members under the resolution can enter the country without a visa and reside temporarily and travel freely on Vietnam’s territory, except for restricted areas regulated in Vietnamese laws, until they take the next ordinary flights.
To benefit from this resolution, the crew members upon entering or leaving Vietnam have to show their passports which are valid for at least six months, valid crew member identification cards, documents affirmed by the airlines that indicate their flight duties as well.

As reported, on April 28, 2016, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam proposed a 30-day visa exemption for citizens of five European countries, consisting of UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy instead of 15-day exemption at that time. However, on July 1, 2016, the Government issued the Resolution No. 56/ND-CP which approved 15-day <a href="https://vietnamvisa.transoceanservice.com/vietnam-visa-exemption-2018-n1668" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Vietnam visa exemption</a> for those citizens for one year until June 30, 2017.

As under the current Law on Entry, exit, transit, and residence of foreigners in Vietnam (Law No. 47/2014/QH13) adopted by the National Assembly on June 16, 2014, its chapter VI, “Temporary Residence” section, article 31, point d states that “the duration of temporary residence permits issued to nationals of the countries to which Vietnam unilaterally grants&nbsp;visa-free&nbsp;entry shall be 15 days”.

Citizens from all other countries are required to get an Entry Visa before departure or a pre-approved Entry Visa (issued on arrival at Vietnam’s International Airports) supplied before arrival in Vietnam.

As all may know, Vietnam Government officially exempted Vietnam visa for UK, Spanish, German, Italian and French from July 1, 2015 with the first period of 1 year. After that, it was extended for another 1 year beginning from July 1, 2016.

This extension duration will be soon expired on this June 30. Though, its expiration does not mean an end to this policy. Recently, the Vietnam Government has decided to extend this policy for another 1 year.
Accordingly, all Spanish, UK, Italian, German, or French citizens continues to get Vietnam visa exemption from now on until June 30, 2018.
Their passport is valid for at the minimum of 6 months since their arrival in Vietnam.
Their arrival date does not fall within 30 days from exit date of their last stay in Vietnam with visa exemption.
In addition, those nationals and others are also entitled to 30-day visa exemption if they directly travel to Phu Quoc Island of Vietnam from any external country/ territory. After that, if they want to visit other destination(s) in Vietnam, they can apply a visa on spot.
<h2>Tips: What if those nationals want to stay in Vietnam for more than 15 days?</h2>
